Climate

a.) Climate Types

i.) Russia is host to all of the world's climate types except tropical rainforest. Since Russia has a lack of significant bodies of water, it has a continental climate. Russia also has the world's largest temperature ranging (a record low of -90.4 and a record high of 98.6).

ii.) Due to the gigantic size of the country and the remoteness of bodies of water, the climate is heavily continental influenced. The annual highs and lows can be at polar opposites of the temperature scale.

b.) Seasonality

i.) The annual temperature range for Moscow is between 75-12 degrees Fahrenheit. The annual rainfall range for Moscow is between 2.9-1.2 inches.

The annual temperature range for St. Petersburg is between 73-14 degrees Fahrenheit. The annual rainfall range for St. Petersburg is between 5.8-1.3 inches.

ii.) The annual range of temperature in Honolulu is between 88-65 degrees Fahrenheit; a much smaller range than that of Russia's capital city, Moscow. The average rainfall is between 4-0.4 inches in Honolulu; a much larger variance in rainfall than Moscow.

Honolulu's tropical climate makes it much warmer and wetter than Moscow.

iii.) Moscow experiences a large seasonality because there is an immense temperature range throughout the year in Moscow.
